Jon Vaughan and Family
When Jon Vaughan was a child, he observed both his grandparents and his parents give to Atlanta Mission. Seeing their passion for helping those facing homelessness ignited his own desire to help end homelessness in Atlanta.
“As we have engaged with Atlanta Mission, seeing the life change and Christlike love that happens is the tie that binds,” shares Jon. “Serving with Atlanta Mission is truly living out Jesus’ calling to us in Matthew 25:35-40, “Truly, I tell you, whatever you did for the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
When Jon graduated from college, he volunteered at The Shepherd’s Inn with his men’s small group. After getting married, he and his wife volunteered with other couples by giving, serving meals, and painting on Saturdays with the women and children at My Sister’s House.
Jon and his father Chip have also served through their company, Brand Vaughan Lumber. They have been major sponsors of the Atlanta Mission Hope In One Golf Tournament, as well as the 5K Race to End Homelessness. They have hosted work days at our campuses and served meals.
“We have an initiative in our business where we want to engage our team with the local community with our time, talent, and treasure,” shares Jon. “That has led us into a very special and strategic partnership with Atlanta Mission. The connection, engagement, and servant hearts we have been able to see with our family and team at Brand Vaughan has been encouraging and humbling.”
It is clear that being involved as a family for the long-term is very close to Jon’s heart: “The generational impact of teaching the purpose of giving is so much greater and deeper when we can make this a family quest. We want to continue to invite God into the process of molding our hearts around service and compassion, and involving our family at Atlanta Mission is a great way to do that.”
Serving with and giving to Atlanta Mission has continued to be a major part of Jon’s life, and he hopes his children will continue the family legacy. “So much of what we spend our money on is temporal and fleeting. The money we give to the Atlanta Mission is some of the best money we will ever spend. The impact on our city, community, and ultimately the Kingdom, is evident, present, and eternal.”
